1. Acceptance and Entry

Please fill in the online application form completely, accurately and honestly taking care not to make any mistakes. If there are any mistakes or blanks, it may delay your application unnecessarily.

2. Qualification Guidelines

Students of any nationality are welcome although there may be a bias towards English explanations where students are unable to understand from context or through a Japanese explanation. Therefore, please be aware that a firm grasp of English may be expected in certain circumstances. Lack thereof, will not disqualify you to apply but we do wish for you to be aware of this.

3. Payment

The payment must be made either through bank transfer or via PayPal and is payable in yen only. In the case of the intensive Japanese course, payment must be received 1 calendar month prior to the start of the course. Failure to meet this deadline may lead to you losing your place on the course to new students who are able to make the payment. The cost of textbooks and other materials are included in the  tuition fee. 

4. Holidays

The lessons take place from Monday to Friday. There are no lessons on Saturdays, Sundays and National holidays.

5. Airport Pick-up Service

If you wish to have a pick-up service, please make the payment together with the course fee and send an e-mail with your flight including details such as arrival date, time and your flight number. This email must be received no later than 7 days before your arrival. We will reply to your mail within 48 hours. However, if you do not hear from us after 48 hours, please call us on the number provided in the information pack we will send to you.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The cost of the airport pick-up service is 18,000 yen by means of public airport limousine bus from Narita Airport or Haneda Airport to your accommodation where your accommodation is within 2 hours of Shinagawa Station where the school is located. The Pick-up service must be from Narita or Haneda Airport and without the above-mentioned email; your application for the Pick-up Service will be automatically canceled. In the event of cancellation, this fee will be reimbursed to you in full.

It should be noted that detailed travel arrangements can be provided to you free of charge by Maskal which would result in a considerable saving on your part, although we can understand that for simple peace of mind you may prefer to be guided on your way to your accommodation.

6. Accommodation

You are responsible for your accommodation although we will endeavor to assist you as much as possible. You are free to choose your accommodation although home-stay is also an option on request and depending on availability. Below you can find some initial help regarding accommodation.

7. Lesson Hours and Attendance

The lessons for the Intensive Japanese Course are from 9:00 to 10:45 and from 11:00 to 12:00 from Monday to Thursday and from 9:00 to 10:30 on Fridays. The lesson time is non-negotiable as a rule. Attendance is not compulsory although it is obviously in your own best interest not to skip any classes.

Regular lessons are taken 4 times at the same scheduled time per month. It is possible to make up lessons which have been missed within the same month and prior permission.

8. Change or Cancellation prior to the course

All changes and cancellations for the intensive Japanese course must be notified in writing by e-mail . Please contact us again if you do not hear from us within 48 hours after your notification.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Maskal is not responsible for your visa issue or permission to enter Japan. In the case that your visa is not issued or if you are refused entry to Japan, please send us an e-mail to cancel your course. In this unfortunate case, we will refund the fee according to the table above.

* Charges regarding refunds will be deducted from the course fee.

9. Change or Cancellation after the course begins.

It is not possible to refund any moneys received if you should cancel or change your course dates after the course has begun.

10. Travel Insurance

We strongly advise you to take out adequate travel insurance for your time in Japan and urge you to exercise maturity and caution during your stay in Japan. We are concerned about your health and welfare; however, Maskal does not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage caused by accidents, diseases or natural calamities including accidents occurring during transportation or in accommodation or for any lost, damaged or stolen personal property.

11. Privacy Policy

Maskal exercises the strictest protection of students' personal information and guarantees that it is only to be used for the following, expect in the case of student’s giving explicit permission:

1. Preparation and arrangement for the lessons.

2. For ensuring students' safety in case of emergency.

3. When it has been requested by the immigration authorities or other public organization Maskal deems to be an unavoidable or legal necessity.
